Val Badia enjoys international acclaim thanks to the Dolomites – a UNESCO World Natural Heritage site and to the ski resorts of Kronplatz and Alta Badia. Despite this, this idyllic valley in Südtirol also possesses some less well-known jewels within its territory and due to their relative limited popularity they represent the maximum expression of the Ladin traditions and the nature of the Dolomites.

Col Pradat Mountain Hut – Val Stella Alpina, Colfosco (2038m), Corvara (BZ) – Alta Badia, South Tyrol

Situated above the Edelweisstal, at the foot of Mount Sassongher you will find this small jewel “Col Pradat,” embedded between the majestic Dolomites of Alta Badia, right next to the ski lift of the same name. Lee Mountain Hut – Monte S. Croce (1850 m), Badia (BZ) – Val Badia, South Tyrol

Badia, situated at 1,324 m above sea level, is a quiet spot which has kept its rustic character. Several well-preserved Ladin hamlets have made Badia a real gem of traditional Alpine rural architecture.
Ladin customs and traditions are especially cherished and preserved here, and the village inhabitants love introducing tourists to these local customs. To this end, themed events are put on throughout the year, such as the “Leonhardiritt”, a traditional display of decorated horses and carriages in honour of St Leonard.

San Martino in Badia is located in Val Badia and comprises the Ladin villages of Picolein, Longiarù and Antermois. Inhabited by some 1,700 people, it stretches from 1,115 m to 1,515 m asl. The Sasso Putia is considered the local mountain, if you are experienced in mountaineering, we highly recommend you to scale this prominent Dolomite peak. The highest located village of San Martino is Antermoia.

The refuge is located in a beautiful setting at the foot of the “Sass dla Crusc”, nearby the Santa Croce church.
The Santa Croce refuge in Badia is located in a beautiful setting, at the foot of the “Sas dla Crusc”. Whether it be winter or summer, the colors of nature completely change the landscape, constantly turning our refuge into a new experience that involves all the senses!!
The refuge boasts a family tradition that has been ongoing for 5 generations. Our restaurant, which is open all day, offers our specialties ready for you to taste, including the famous Kaiserschmarren with blueberry jam, eggs with speck and potatoes and polenta (cornmeal) with cheese and mushrooms.

Fanes Mountain Hut (Cam 2) – Fanes (2060 m), S. Vigilio di Marebbe (BZ) – Val Badia, South Tyrol
Fanes Hut is located on the Dolomites above the town of San Vigilio di Marebbe. The hut was built in 1928 and it has a long history and tradition. Today, the hut welcomes alpinists and tourists in a modern and comfortable accommodation
By staying in our hut, you can feel an atmosphere in close contact with nature. Fanes Alps and the Dolomites surround our beautiful hut and awaits you for amazing views, walks and other activities.
Fanes Hut is open in summer and winter from the start of June to the middle of October and from 26 of December to the middle of April. We have approx. 70 beds. For our guests, a shuttle service by jeep in summer time and by snowcat in winter time is at disposal. Children can spend joyful moments at our playground and meet new little friends.
Activities organized at the Fanes Hut:
lunches and dinners: upon prior booking, dinner with moonlight descent;
wedding banquets: possibility of overnight stay and transport;
conferences and meetings: the hut offers an interesting and authentic atmosphere for your business meetings. Upon request we can organize some equipment for your meeting.
